the problem is that when the heater kicks in the fan works as normal but the vents open and close in an oscillating fashion changing every five seconds or so, as the temp of the engine increases the speed of the vent oscillations slows down but continues. It's annoying.

Anyone with a P1 should consider replacing the heater hoses before they fail. Same thing with the radiator hose above the transmission. The plastic T connect will crack/leak. After reaching normal operating temps, my 05 V50 T5 heat does not work unless it is on High. The airflow directions are all correct..just no heat. Local (long time) mechanic says "Scan Tested Detected Code: DTC CCM-0017 Damper Motor Faulty Position. Need Softward Update from Volvo Per TSB 87-48."
